Wow - I 've got A-10s with P-51s, and F22s with P-51s, but I've never seen all three in flight together. Cool!

I like photographing air shows too. Last summer in August it was a very long, hot day in central Indiana, with not a lick of shade for 10 hours in the sun, so I only took one body, a 7D Mk II and one lens a 16-300 Tamron zoom since I had to walk over 7 miles that day - I still did manage a few frames of the Blue Angels - they are truly incredible, almost frightening to watch

Nice shots @Pathfinder ! I love the Blue Angels. I like the Thunderbirds as well, but I think the Blue Angels put on a slightly better show. For this recent show I went to, I got a photographers pass and rented a Sony a7iii and the 100-400mm lens. I was really pleased with the results! I typically shot with an a6000. I stayed for all three days and ended up with a mountain of images. At 10fps, you can really fill up a card. I'm still going through them and probably will be for months.

I'll let some others share, but here's one since you asked. I had to practice a bit to get my panning at a slow shutter speed down so I'd end up with the full prop blade in motion and the rest of it in focus.

I bet that was brutal, but you definitely got some great heat exhaust distortion shots.

I like AIR SHOWS.....but, the one here in Vegas at Nellis is such effort of 10,000's peoples and parking is horrendous.

So, you shoot about 3,000 images and love about five. hahahahah

Parking is just bad at all of them. It's like any major event. I just sit back and relax for an hour or two afterwards rather than trying to fight the crowds getting out. Sometimes you even get a bonus with aircraft leaving the show. This past show I was at we got to see the C-17 taxi right over us (the wing was literally over our heads) and then take off and make a couple of passes. Probably 98% of the people missed it.

Sort like shooting a sunset. The sun goes down, everyone leaves and then there is the huge afterburst. YAY! lol

I remember seeing a flyover of a P51 and an F18 together, the P51 was flat out going as fast as it could and the F18 was almost falling out of the sky trying to go slow enough, it was awesome to watch

This summer I went to my first one in years and took the little Olympus and 40-150 F4-5.6 so I could just relax VS carrying around a bunch of heavier gear but it ended up working out pretty well. There were some clouds that came in before the Thunderbirds flight which really helped to make for some more dynamic shots. Here's the full gallery:

I grew up near Dobbins AFB and the flight path was over our house. C-5's all day, then c-130's. Saw the Blue Angles many times there, then traveled to Robins AFB to see them with my daughter after they quit having air shows because of the population around Dobbins. Also saw B-1's at Peachtree City. Then The Thunderbirds and an F-22 at Dobbins the few years they let airshows back before they stopped them again. I missed the Blue Angels in Rome Last Month. Really wanted to go because A-10's were supposed to performing.

I see C-130s flying around on a regular basis. I miss hearing the F-22s test runs when they came off of the production line. The C-5s predate me. I was at the last airshow at Dobbins (getting out of there was a complete disaster, way worse than most airshows). I missed last year's WONG show with the Blue Angels as well. This year's show was still really good even though the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels were not there. It was my first time to see the Tora Tora Tora demo which was pretty slick. I've been fortunate to see the Tora Tora Tora performance several times - last time in August 2018. - I think they keep making the explosions larger over the years and I still find myself behind and slow, since I never know when explosions are about to explode

The smoke was so thick it was difficult to even see the airplanes let alone photograph them - I wondered how bad the visibility was for the pilots flying by each other at the center of the runways

Nice shots. For the show I was just at on the second day the wind was blowing the smoke towards the crowds, so it was harder to see. It's kind of more realistic in that the explosions happen after the plane has passed because that's how it would be in reality.

@Chris now that this thread has a good bit on it, here's a suggestion. Why not show this thread in reverse order. When I click the notification, it loads the entire conversation and scrolls me down to the very bottom. This means you have to load the entire page and all of the images to the browser before you can even see the latest comment. Would it not make sense to have the recent responses at the top and you scroll down to see the older comments? I get that my original post gets lost that way, but maybe pin that at the top? I'm thinking that if there were 400 comments on this topic and 250 photos, I would take a really really really long time to load. Just throwing ideas out.
