Andrea seems to have smashed a zillion stereotypes......Brava!
Well Chris, as previously noted - I've been freelancing in bike mags in Aus and NZ for 17 years now.
Testing and photographing bikes is fun, enjoyable and interesting - of course.
Banging out 1200 words about a machine a few times a month becomes work. Not onerous or unpleasant by any means - but you still have to produce the juice.
As a Freelancer or Stringer the money is OK considering it's something most would do for free (for a short while), until you work out how many hours it takes to produce an article: ride it - photo it - research it - write it - and put fuel in it. Then it's not great. But ... motorcycles.
There's not enough coin in what I do to make it full time. I have other gigs as well - and a brilliant wife.
The way publishing has changed / is changing, the full time jobs are rarer than ever.
FWIW I'm 6'5", 280lbs and nobody has ever called me too small for anything :-)
I dunno man, you look a bit like Anthony Bourdain, and that worries me.
Nah- he looked a bit like *me*.
