Free popcorn with your coronavirus. All films are horror movies by default.
The number of cases of COVID-19 from protestors is much lower than expected. Health experts believe that wearing masks and being outside reduced the spread of the virus. By contrast, the CDC warns against staying in enclosed spaces where aerosol sprays of the virus can linger in the air for a long time. Also, the CDC recommends wearing masks to avoid inhaling COVID-19 in those enclosed spaces:
“From these studies, one thing is clear: The main way people are getting sick with SARS-CoV-2 is from respiratory droplets spreading between people in close quarters. The risk of catching the coronavirus, simply put, ‘is breathing in everybody’s breath,’ says Charles Haas, an environmental engineer at Drexel University.”
My only recommendation is not to supersize your drink if you decide to go out to the movies: public bathrooms could be even worse at concentrating the virus dosage you could inhale as well, which increases the severity of infections.
UPDATE
Never underestimate the power of consumer boycotts. “After the theater chain announced masks would not be mandatory, customers began to post screenshots of their membership cancellation confirmation.” Within hours, AMC reversed its decision:
“This announcement prompted an intense and immediate outcry from our customers, and it is clear from this response that we did not go far enough on the usage of masks. At AMC Theaters, we think it is absolutely crucial that we listen to our guests. Accordingly, and with the full support of our scientific advisors, we are reversing course and are changing our guest mask policy.”
