    • You may have seen in recent news how the Hawksmoor Manchester restaurant accidentally served some patrons the wrong bottle of wine - a bottle of wine that cost 17 times the price of the bottle the guests actually ordered!

Wondering what the bottles looked like?

If you're in shock about this, you're not alone! More than $5,000 for a single bottle of wine?

Luckily the BBC is asking the tough questions: they reached out to wine expert Joe Fattorini (of the delightful program THE WINE SHOW) to ask what makes this vintage so valuable:

"It's really, really good," enthuses Fattorini. "I haven't had the 2001, which is quite hard to get hold of. But it's the epitome of their house style. It's glossy, rich and voluptuous with lots of cherries and leaves your mouth coated with a glycerine feel. It's exceptional."

It was a lucky break for some discerning diners.

Doing the math, the lucky guests had ordered a $300 bottle of wine.

I will assume they were discerning wine connoisseurs. 😉

    • Can we take a moment to appreciate the way these people turned a minor catastrophe into a priceless marketing opportunity? The press coverage they’re getting should more than cover the cost of the bottle.
