Having previously helped creators reach their crowdfunding goals and recently launched a campaign myself, I'm always curious about the public views on crowdfunding.
- Is it possible that the arrival of GoFundMe and similar crowdfunding platforms, were people can simply raise money for whatever cause and offer nothing in return, is giving platforms like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo a bad name?
- while GoFundMe was intended as a way for people to raise funds in an emergency, there are all kinds of campaigns of questionable ethics, like people asking for money to go on holidays... or to prove that the Earth is flat.
- Some creators on Kickstarter and IndieGoGo have failed to deliver their product that people crowdfunded, and this has happened quite a few times leaving people jaded and mistrustful.
Have you had any experiences with crowdfunding? Do you like or dislike it?
