President John F. Kennedy wrote to Charles Callison of the National Audubon Society on July 18, 1961: "The founding fathers made an appropriate choice when they selected the bald eagle as the emblem of the nation. The fierce beauty and proud independence of this great bird aptly symbolizes the strength and freedom of America."

      Happy 4th!

Would certainly like to know how you get your animals to pose for you? (Wink)

Splendid timing, framing and capture, perfect exposure, awesome creature!

“Dans les champs de l'observation le hasard ne favorise que les esprits préparés.”
(A quote from Louis Pasteur. In English it means, “In the fields of observation, chance favors only the prepared mind.”)

I also wonder how in the world you got that eagle to pose for you?!

It's exciting to hear that the bald eagle populations are on the rise, and are now marked as "least concerned" in terms of endangerment status. Decades ago they were nearly extinct here in the US.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful shot, Scott.
