Interesting discussion about Trump and Sean Hannity of Fox News. Not sure how accurate Stetler’s account is but he has some interesting things to say about Hannity and Trump that in my mind makes Hannity a serious problem for America. Someone prominent needs to start telling Trump that Hannity is the mastermind pulling the strings of the puppet Trump. That’s been said before but not enough. It could get in Trump’s head and possibly create a divide. Thoughts?
Sean Hannity’s relationship with Trump.
Well that turned out to be fascinating. I’ve wondered what goes on behind the scenes. My view has been that it’s like televangelists: they are in it for the money but don’t believe what they preach.
Never in my memory has a single politician received the absolute adoration and relentless backing of such a powerful propaganda machine as the Fox media empire. And yet Trump has failed profoundly. Should he win re-election, it will be Fox's fault; if he does not, the responsibility will his. Will his personal failure impact their profits? Unless or until that occurs expect full speed ahead . . .
The only part I’m a little skeptical of (only because it’s such a horrible thought) is the concept of Fox believing Trump is “batshit nuts” as Hannity is alleged to have said, and yet still be willing to help shape Trump’s policy and enable him. That makes them an existential threat to American democracy.
Yeah but they can agree with most of his policy but think he’s a bit crazy to do or say certain things. Yeah definitely makes you wonder what’s true.
I suspect that many in the Republican establishment believe Trump is nuts but have been cynically using him to achieve their policy goals. If that is not the case then they, too, are "batshit nuts". And yes, all Trump enablers *are* an existential threat to American democracy. Their historical and ongoing efforts at voter suppression prove the point.
