As a moderator at Cake, I wanted to share a few updates.
Spam, Spam, Spam. Have you noticed that the number of spam posts masquerading as new conversations has declined significantly? Kevin has done an amazing job of preventing their reoccurrence and I’m happy to see more real conversations happening as a result—improving the signal to noise ratio is a wonderful thing!
If you do notice a new conversation that appears to be spam, please flag it using the down arrow to the right of the blue Follow button. The team gets notifications of all flagged content so this helps greatly in removing offensive content asap.
Posts loading faster. I don’t know if hot sauce in any way was involved but Kevin again did his magic and I’ve noticed that posts are loading faster; so enjoy the additional free time to explore more of Cake.
Photo of the Day. If you haven’t noticed, there are a ton of opportunities to share favorite images from your archives or from a great shot you took this week. Daily themes include Creatures, Nature, Urban, Macro and Black and White. I started hosting a Phone Photography share on Sundays, which you can submit to here.
The return of Sunday Panels. Every other Sunday we are having a Sunday panel of users who are experts or passionate on a particular topic. Engagement has been amazing and you can now sign up ahead of time if you’d like to participate. A sign up sheet will be posted, as a new conversation, on the Thursday prior. More details and a couple general requests for participants can be found here.
New user introductions. If you are new to Cake, please take a moment to reply to this conversation and introduce yourself. You can be as long or short in your reply as you’d like, but please include a few of the topics you enjoy chatting about. Thanks! If you’d like to read about the interests of some of our regular users, check out this conversation.
User spotlight. I’ve lost count of how many of @JazliAziz’s conversations have been featured at this point, but he always shares interesting thoughts and ideas that lead to great conversations. Here’s JazliAziz’s rundown of his first ten to be featured on Cake.
Set your filter to Active. Looking for a different perspective on Cake? Try changing your timeline’s filter to the “Active” setting. It’s been called life-changing by some, a way not to miss out on the most active conversations on Cake. How do I do this, you ask? Answers are here 👇.
