Ok, there are a few of us out there that put minimal cash in the pockets of shampoo manufacturers anymore (@Chris, I know you can relate) follically challenged...hehe
nowadays I go back and forth with either a bottle of shower gel or a bar of soap. In the vision of packing smaller and lighter the bar of soap makes sense...but also makes a mess
I was just about done with it, I had tried zip lock bags, or trying to 'dry' the bar of soap before packing it, and also a specific plastic bar of soap holder, they all kind of fail one way or another and mostly the soap ends up in mess and eventually falls apart sooner that expected.
Off to the internet to see if if anyone else was having a similar issue, and not surprisingly there was...first world problems!
...and I found this, with very high reviews, Matador FlatPak Soap Bar Case Wash Bag. I do have to say when I bought it, it was around $15.
Why is it so good?
It's a cordura bag with a breathable one way membrane. Shake the excess water off your bar of soap and put it in the bag, close the clasp and forget about it. What it does is let the moisture out thru the wall of the bag (but its not wet) and when you go to get your bar of soap its not in bits or a slimy mess.
I've been using it for about 6 months and it works exactly as described and as an added bonus makes your luggage smell fresh from the soap
