I visited Venice most recently two years ago, and shared our thoughts and reactions here.
While we visited without being a part of a cruise, I was shocked by the news that yesterday a cruise ship collided with a tourism boat in one of the major sections of Venice's harbor.
Luckily there were no fatalities, but apparently five people were injured in the accident.
It seems as though there has been a lot of discussion of banning cruise ships from Venice's harbor but the laws were delayed to be enforced in a few years.
While the accident has prompted some unfortunate comparisons with the movie SPEED 2...
Is there a way that cruises and Venice can co-exist?
