So the movie BRITTANY RUNS A MARATHON is being released this upcoming week, and I was able to get a sneak peek of it a few weeks ago. It's an incredible movie that brings an unexpected and vulnerable look at one woman's journey and the friends she brings along the way.
It was a Sundance Festival breakout hit, and - believe it or not - is based on the true story of the director's friend, Brittany O'Neil, who decided to take charge of her life and her health through running.
The real breakout star of the film is Jillian Bell, who brings surprising warmth and relatability to the complex main character. Even as she occasionally self-sabotages in one way or another, you're rooting for her to succeed and to make it - one run at a time.
The film definitely has some twists and turns that surprised me.
I don't want to go into any spoilers, but this film is going to make you want to pick up your running shoes and go to check it out. Plus it's the first film shot at the New York City Marathon!
