I'm heading to Acadia National Park next week, hoping for a bit of autumn color. I usually try to visit in the spring and fall when the people load in the park is less than the busier summer months.

The photo below is from last year, on October 19th. Some years I hit the color, some I don't. It's always beautiful though...

That looks beautiful! Do people live on those islands? Can't wait to see the photos. Hoping you catch the colors. 🌄

I'm pretty sure the islands seen here are uninhabited. There are some further out that are inhabited though.

Wow I had no idea there are (I can't believe I'm typing this but I read it on the Internet, so it's true) 4,000 islands off the coast of Maine. How did I never know this?

So wait, Acadia is mostly islands?

Hahaha, I was just researching that. 😄 This is looking more and more like a place I'd love to visit.

Acadia is in two main pieces. The bulk of the park is on Mt. Desert Island with another section at the tip of the Schoodic Peninsula (the next peninsula up the coast - to the north and east). Then there is Isle au Haut, an island off the coast near Stonington (the next peninsula to the south / west).
