I spun this off from @Chris' conversation about his new Oura Ring to hopefully not dilute that discussion.

P.S. NBA players were wearing a ring that looked very similar to this in Orlando when they were in the bubble last season. It helped alert them of their health so as it make sure they weren’t COVID positive and what not. Gonna be interesting to see where ring technology takes us!

They gave each player an Oura ring because there was the possibility of the ring being an early detector of covid-19 based on the temperature data.

The New Zealand Government is currently investigating a New Zealand made app called elarm which analyses data from wearable health tech from Apple, Samsung, Fitbit, Oura, Garmin, Huawei, Samsung, and it can interface with Google Fit to potentially detect if the wearer might be coming down with Covid-19 / Coronavirus.
The app claims an 80% success rate to date with that likely to improve as more and more people use the app and so more and more data is analysed.

One thought I do have from this is that COVID-19 is certainly forcing technology to accelerate in some key areas like virus detection. Gonna be interesting to see the type of advances that will be made and what the net impact will be.

Quite fascinating. I'd love to know how the wearables are doing with detecting heart abnormalities too.

I've thought about a continuous glucose monitor too, but maybe just to rent one for two weeks to see what's up? I don't know that much about them but would love to know more.

Gonna be really interesting to see where this all leads us.
