I spun this off from @Chris' conversation about his new Oura Ring to hopefully not dilute that discussion.
In that discussion @slamdunk406 commented:
P.S. NBA players were wearing a ring that looked very similar to this in Orlando when they were in the bubble last season. It helped alert them of their health so as it make sure they weren’t COVID positive and what not. Gonna be interesting to see where ring technology takes us!
To which @Kylo replied:
They gave each player an Oura ring because there was the possibility of the ring being an early detector of covid-19 based on the temperature data.
(P.S Cake mods.. The Blockquote function is a pain in the proverbial .... when doing the above as it wants to join the 2 sections together)
The New Zealand Government is currently investigating a New Zealand made app called elarm which analyses data from wearable health tech from Apple, Samsung, Fitbit, Oura, Garmin, Huawei, Samsung, and it can interface with Google Fit to potentially detect if the wearer might be coming down with Covid-19 / Coronavirus.
The app claims an 80% success rate to date with that likely to improve as more and more people use the app and so more and more data is analysed.
Here's the elarm apps website, you can download elarm from the Google Play Store and the Apple app Store, there's links to it in both on the website.
