Thanks for starting this conversation @Victoria! I wanted to start my own but I just didn't have the time. Now I can just reply to you instead 😁 Here are some of my favourite movies of the year.
As you mentioned in your post, Avengers: Endgame is definitely one of my favourites of the year. Absolutely incredible ending to the Infinity Saga .
Joker was another amazing movie this year. Though not as epic, grand, or action-packed as Endgame, it was remarkable in it's own way.
I love Frozen, and the sequel was even better than the original for me. Frozen 2 was so good I considered it to be a perfect Disney movie.
John Wick Chapter 3 was pretty awesome. I hadn't watched the first two films, so I did and continued to watch the third which I thought was the best so far.
Remember when we all panicked when Sony and Disney announced that Spider-Man was no longer part of the MCU, only to later announce that he was back in it again? Man, what a roller coaster that was. It would be a real shame if Spidey really did leave the MCU, because the MCU version has been incredible, and Far From Home was a great Spidey film.
When it comes to foreign language films, many people will undoubtedly mention Parasite, though for me I found the Thai film Friend Zone to be more enjoyable. But maybe that's just me?
As we gear up to catch the Black Widow movie next year, let's not forget how big of an impact Captain Marvel made this year. The MCU's first female-led superhero film was substantial in more ways than one, giving women the spotlight they deserve in the MCU.
Lastly, How to Train your Dragon 3 was a great end to the trilogy, one that will always be one of my favourite animated trilogies ever.
Notable omissions include The Rise of Skywalker which I'm not really interested in, Jumanji The Next Level which I haven't had time to watch yet, and Knives Out which I'm intrigued to watch but haven't had time to either.
As for TV shows, Game of Thrones let us down with its final season, so it gets a 🤦♂️ from me.
The Big Bang Theory ended this year, a show that I've enjoyed watching from my degree years, through my Master's, and now while I'm pursuing my PhD.
And of course, can't forget about Stranger Things season 3, which was the most epic and intense season yet.
There were still a lot of movies and TV shows I didn't watch this year, with so many great options it's difficult to find the time for everything, but that's my list for 2019.
