Tuesday 2/19/19 was a day for photographers to get out their long lenses and cameras and experience Super Blood Moon day.
I went at it in two different locations. The morning began with an attempted shoot in Manhattan Beach, California, hoping to get the moon over the Pier. But even though I arrived at 5:45 a.m., I was too late.
I did get a nice shot of a bird flying over the moon though.

In the evening, I made my way over to the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, the spot to get the best shot of the downtown Los Angeles skyline--even though it's 10 miles or so away.
That's where, at 6:13 p.m., I watched this giant, orange moon slip from behind the San Gabriel Mountains and rise over the city of Los Angeles. Magical!
What are great non-LA locales for your moon shots? I'd love to hear from you.
