    • They had a Porsche Mission E concept, which they recently announced will be a practical production car that @bstrong needs for his family of four. It will be called the Taycan. It's all-electric and has 300 mile range. Reserve yours now, Brian.

    • I think my favorite car on this year's concept lawn was the SSC Tuatara. The original concept was debuted 7 years ago and this year they showed off the first (and only) production version. This beast has 1750 HP (when using E85 ethanol) and is aiming to break many speed records.

The Tuatara is my favorite not only because it's beautiful and ambitious, but because I know something special about this car. Every car on the concept lawn has a beautiful paint job, except for one. This one. Although it looks like the Tuatara is finished with an amazing gray pearlescent paint, it's actually the only car on the lawn that was wrapped.

I know this because my brother-in-law wrapped it!

    • I think that what I find most interesting/impressive with cars (or motorcycles, or anything really) is if I can see that a ton of thinking, ingenuity, and good old-fashioned hard work went into creating what I'm looking at. For that reason, both really impressive one-off customs and modern, cutting-edge vehicles with totally new designs and technology are really interesting and thought provoking...in a way that more typical cars/motorcycles/etc are not.

(I'm categorizing something like an Aventador as typical, just because it's not totally out of the realm of what we're used to seeing.)

      For instance, I find this...

    • ...way more interesting than this, even though the base model is the same (a 1976 Porsche 911 Carrera). With the first one, it's clear, especially if you read more about it, that a ton of effort went into creating it. While I know that when creating the 911 Carerra in the first place was a huge engineering feat, the different-ness of of the custom car is just way more compelling, at least for me.

    • Gorgeous - every year I put the one at a town near where I live on my calendar and every year I have something else going on and can't make it. It' kills me.

    • Another car I'd love to test drive is the Audi PB 18 E-Tron, which debuted at Pebble Beach (hence the PB in the name). 0-60 in 2 seconds. I can't imagine. 310 mile range on the batteries, charges in 15 minutes with an 880-volt charger.
