But, speaking to your general question, Boeing looks like a cautionary tale about systemically important companies and regulatory capture. 737 Max trouble wouldn't have happened had the FAA not been in the pocket of Boeing and insisted on proper certification procedures. Yes, MAX would be late and more expensive and Boeing would be in financial trouble (Airbus 320NEO would have eaten their lunch), but then again, people wouldn't have died, and right now they would have been in a much better position.
