Probably the fact that we are friends. And we really started working together in the mid to early 90s. We grew up with a lot of close friends together, so when we started writing as a team, we started discovering the films that inspired us together. It always helps if you know the person and your visions coalesce. I think at our age if we were solo directors, and you were to suddenly pair us with somebody else, it wouldn’t work. For co-directors, you have to be two bodies, one mind. And I really think that it helps if that vision is something that got formed at the same time, because then you're able to draw from the same references, which is really helpful. It’s like a shorthand.
