I only eat ice cream rarely once in a while, but now that we're in summer, it's definitely the right season for a delicious treat. I always preferred sorbets (which are naturally vegan) to ice cream.
And as per the NYTimes, we're living in a Golden Age of Vegan Ice Cream!
The first real vegan ice cream treat I can remember enjoying growing up were Tofutti Cuties.
They're delicious AND dairy free!
More recently I've enjoyed the occasional sweet treat from Van Leeuwen, a premium and popular ice cream spot here in NYC that makes their own vegan ice cream from scratch with cashew and coconut milks (which creates a naturally creamier, more indulgent ice cream than other blends).
With all the incredible variety of vegan ice creams and treats available nowadays, it's always fun to try new flavors. If you have a favorite vegan frozen treat or ice cream, what is it and why?
