Do you think a nation's currency reflects its culture and identity? I think it's highly likely. Malaysia has always been a multi-racial and multi-cultural nation, and though I don't know for certain if this is why our money is as colourful as it is, I think our currency reflects that.
Either that, or the people who decided to make our bank notes colourful just thought it would be fun. It's actually quite functional too. It's easy to look into your wallet and see how much money you have at a glance just by looking at the colours of the notes.
