The picture below is an abridged overview of the literary structure of the narrative of the Flood. There are other items in the story which can be fitted in among the items shown in this chart but then the chart's type size would be too small for projecting onto a screen in many auditoriums. This particular image is exported from a series of charts which I use when presenting two lessons on the faith of Noah.

This particular method of organizing a narrative is found repeatedly within the Hebrew bible. The item in the center of this structure is (in every example of which I am familiar) the main point of the narrative or else (as in the case of the story of Hadaasah) implies the main point.
