    • I haven’t been on Cake in a while. I got an email blast and decided to check in on the app. I was not interested in anything in my feed. Are other people experiencing this? It seemed to be better before. Does anyone have any recommendations to improve my feed?

    • The best way to improve your feed is by following more topics that interest you. That is what is driving conversation suggestions in your feed.

It seemed to be better before.

Would love to know more about this! Was it the number of conversations, relevancy to what you are interested in or the overall quality of the discussion?

    • Not sure if this helps, but I find many very interesting conversations created long before I joined, by selecting category topic then browsing the list. Because if we think of feeds as us being a passive consumer waiting for the interesting stuff to come to us we may miss quite a bit. I can only imagine the extent of this effect on someone that would join Cake in say 100 years from now. On the other hand, many conversations start and then simply run out of steam, while few others may span much longer, but still eventually subside and are forgotten, which is an interesting phenomenon, apparently inherent to the design.

    • I do like the conversations on here. My experience should grow with my interaction which is what I am oracting right now. I appreciate the perspective and ageee : ) I think the ability to entice people coming back is important too. It’s an important part of attracting users and getting them to engage.

This is where I think our views may be different. What a social site should do is facilitate interactions to start and then flourish in a meaningful way, but the attraction comes from within each of us, towards conversations and topics (in no particular order of priority). It's the people that make it attractive. I do not necessarily feel attracted to all of conversations on here, and may even have mild opposing views on some. But as long as I notice interesting old and new "things" - note that I intentionally use the term quite loosely - I will keep coming back!
