With today (May 17) being National Endangered Species Day, it's a reminder to try to do what we can to support wildlife at risk around the world - especially in light of the recent UN Biodiversity Report. What are some simple things you can do to help?
- For those in the United States, you can help support legislation like the Conserving Ecosystems by Ceasing the Importation of Large Animal Trophies Act (CECIL Act), which aims to help protect elephants, lions, and other species that are currently killed by trophy hunters.
- Learn more about nature through visiting conservation centers or wildlife refuges.
There are some great organizations out there trying to save habitats, as seen in this Cake Panel with Sam Teicher from Coral Vita, whose coral farm in the Bahamas is open now! (*Bonus: You can adopt a coral virtually to help them)
And others like One Tree Planted, where a donation of as little as $1 plants a tree and helps with reforestation.
Every step can be a step in the right direction.
