Teddy Roosevelt typically gets credit for being the 1st Prez to deliver our National Park program but I guess President Ulysses S. Grant, made Yellowstone America’s—and the world’s—first truly national park.
It is a fav part of my travels...Canada has some tremendous National Parks as well. I hope to visit Australia's Outback next year or so.
Yea, so hard to call any particular one a fav, but, as I have visited most of the popular ones, now it is fun to discover ones that are less visited. Typically that is due to more difficult access.
This summer visiting Dry Tortugas was such a trip. I had never heard of it 4 years ago and it took me a couple of years to put the trip together. I doubt I would ever go back but I am glad I went, I camped in the extreme heat of summer and rented a kayak to paddle over to Loggerhead Key which I thought was going to kill me. hahahahah
But, the history of Fort Jefferson and Dry Tortugas is rich and it was pivotal in the USA becoming the actual United States of America.
