Wow, what a fascinating video about assymmetric power. Very enlightening. I thought I was aware, but I was not that aware after all. Mr Harris was a very clear, and informative speaker, without using hypergolic language.
When I watch youtube, and I do now and again, there are great educational threads on youtube, I have always been intriqued by what other suggestions are offered me, and how they seem to be less valuable/ less interesting, but more controversial or more likely to embarrass me if someone else thought I watched those. Now I understand better why those teasers are out there. And I'll bet if you bite on one of those teasers, you will get a lot more of them and stronger versions, as well. TINSTAFL !!
Mr Harris' comments about moral outrage gathering more viewer activity and viewer engagement, prompted me to remember a realization I had many years ago.
I remember 25 years ago telling friends that TV news doesn't provide news information any longer, but emotionally laden sad stories, sick puppies, and other videos designed to create a strong emotional responce. TV news shows had become entertainment, not news!
Simply providing information, and allowing the viewer to make their own interpetation of the information, no longer occurs. Still true about TV news I think.
