There’s going to be a lot of variability depending on where you live within countries. People in the USA and Canada for example work more hours and feel very stressed. Varies depending on you SES of course. I was very surprised when I visited Thailand. They were poor but spent a huge amount of time with family and friends and seemed much happier than Canadians.
Hmmmm, that's interesting and I'm really sorry to hear that. From afar, here in the U.S., I would have thought China was a happier place, but your post got me seeking the latest happiness rankings:
I dunno how accurate these rankings are. I would have expected the U.S. to have plunged quite a bit over the last few years, but it lists us as #18, ahead of Spain, Italy, France and Slovenia, which surprised me.
But China was way down at #94...hardly ahead of Venezuela and the poor African countries. I didn't know.
