I had spent my morning reading the columns of Steve Lopez, an LA Times reporter, about the struggles of city life before I stumbled on your beautiful Acadia photo essay.
And just like that the contrast filled me with a sense of wonder about how beautiful the earth is and how lucky we are when we get to experience it, love it, photograph it, and share the awesomeness.
Thank you. 🙏
Thank you @lidja! I highly recommend a visit - but try to stay away from the summer months. The park is overcrowded during that time. The park service has announced they are going to try a reservation system for driving in certain areas of the park but that won't start until 2020.
I wish they would close the roads entirely and require that everyone walk, bike, or ride the buses. I guess we'll need to wait to see if the reservation system works. In the meantime, it's quite empty in early spring and is reasonable once school starts again.
Maybe a reservation system will help people avoid this kind of disappointment...
I hope so!
The owner of the B&B that I stay at when I visit Acadia said that during the summer months they have had to close down the road to Cadillac Mountain (often) because there is no parking available. And she has had guests complain that multiple park buses pass them by because they are all full.
I'd like to see them try eliminating cars and running buses more often.
I've always wanted to go. Great shot!
It's a wonderful park, definitely worth a visit.
