Toni and I used to host Chinese exchange students at our house. They were freaked out by Jello, disgusted with fried dough (pancakes), horrified at sliced rare beef, and offended by corn on the cob (it's swine food).
I think the Korean practice of eating live baby octopus is pretty hard to beat for weirdness.
It just seems utterly unnecessary...
A South Korean friend I was riding with brings with him can slugs because he knows you can't get them everywhere, he couldn't get anyone to try them!

This is not part of the modern NZ national diet, but was for the Maori in times gone by. The larvae of the Huhu beetle, known locally as Huhu Grub.
Said to taste like buttery chicken with a consistency that resembles peanut butter it's not on my must-try list.
If it doesn't get eaten as a larvae it will eventually turn into this

In the modern NZ diet Brussel Sprouts has got to be the most disgusting vegetable ever grown. Anyone that eats those is weird.

But the reality is they are all lies THERE IS NO WAY TO COOK BRUSSEL SPROUTS THAT MAKES THEM EDIBLE!
