I've been spending a lot of time this week, as many others have as well, exploring the various free video conference services.
Zoom is far and away the most popular right now, at No. 1 on the iOS App chart, but it has some company in Google Hangouts Meet, a for-pay app that is probably confusing a lot of folks trying to make it work, Microsoft Teams, the old classic Google Hangouts and Google Duo (confusion again.) These all are in the top 50.
Apple's FaceTime isn't on the charts, as it's pre-loaded on iPhones. And Duo is now pre-loaded on the Google Pixel.
There's a reason Zoom is so popular, I believe, because it's just so darn easy to work. (Check out my deep dive, on USATODAY.com.)
Meanwhile, Google has said it's going to kill Hangouts, even though people love that too.
So many choices.
What's your favorite of the apps and why?
