I just finished reading Regenisis by George Church and Ed Regis. It was published in 2012 and I started reading it at that time but got bogged down in a technical section that was a bit over my head and set it aside. A week ago I restarted the book and didn't let myself get hung up on the short section that was a bit technical. Overall I found the book to be a great history and overview of the field of synthetic biology. It also contains a number of ethical and moral questions and solutions to problems and concerns with this newly emerging field of science and technology. I feel it is an important book in a field that will increasingly play a larger role in our lives and economies. Although it has a section or two that are challenging for a lay audience it is a very readible and accessible book for the average person interested in science, technology and humanity's future. I recommend this book.
