This is your crazy story for the week: Canadian sailor Bill Norrie set sail from the western coast of the United States in September of 2019 and arrived in New Zealand late last week, just finding out about COVID-19. His wife tried to keep him abreast of the situation through texts, but he wasn’t able to fully understand the scope of the situation since he’s been all by himself. A few weeks back, he got in a storm that caused the electrical system in his boat to go out, so he truly lost contact with the outside world for a few weeks.

What is a bit funny is that he’s been social distancing this whole time and now just finding out about it. I guess he chose a pretty good time to go on a yearlong voyage, no?
