I've been playing chess on Chess with friends and it's notable how few women play the game compared to men. I have also had a chess club at school (grades 5-9) and have noticed very few girls play. I've read a few short non academic articles about it but I'm still curious why so few women play chess. What do you think? Any women here like chess? Different brains? Less competitive? Social influences? Gender roles? Not taught the game?
