The Botanic Garden of Smith College holds a spring bulb show each year in early March. It starts on the first Saturday of the month and lasts for two weeks.
This year's show started on March 2nd and runs through March 17th. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit.
Smith College is in Northampton, MA, about a 2 hour drive for me. Yesterday was a drive, commune with flowers and camera, then drive again. Maybe next year I'll think about staying in Northampton overnight and visiting a second time. Hmm...
The flowers are presented in two greenhouse sections. There are tables around the edges and down the middle, with a path on either side of the middle table that is barely two people wide (for walking through the flowers). The crowd ebbed and flowed - which meant there were times of standing still, and times of easy walking. I walked through the exhibit several times, stopping often for a bit of camera play.
The flowers that jumped in front of my camera lens were varied. Most were poppies, daffodils, and tulips, with some other varieties as well.
Let's start with a poppy in bright pink!
