    • National Geographic reports that Congress agreed to spend almost a billion dollars a year for the next 5 years on National Parks:

This will be the largest investment of capital into National Parks in the last 50 years. I can’t think of a better way to invest in the future of our homeland recreation.

      Finally some good news!

    • Absolutely awesome news! Keeping these gems pristine and protected from commercialization is the right thing to do.

    • Awesome news to start the day! What an accomplishment for the people who lobbied for a lot of years for this.

Congress also agreed to pump billions of dollars into repair projects in federal forests, wildlife refuges, and grasslands. And lawmakers committed, for the first time, to set up a continuous stream of money to buy and conserve land across the country.

“I know I may be biased, but I think this is the most impactful legislation for parks and public lands in the United States in more than half a century,” says Marcia Argust, director of the Restore America’s Parks program at The Pew Charitable Trusts. “It’s a game-changer.”

    • that’s so great to hear. Encouraging to have bipartisan support for something. Though the bipartisan suport for Covid-19 was also impressive. Yeah for parks :-)

    • Hopefully they'll build some bigger, more impressive waterfalls! With laser or LED lights synchronized to music.

Seriously, if you ever get the chance, I highly recommend staying overnight at the in-park lodges in Bryce Canyon and Mount Zion national parks. No light pollution at night, and the restaurants are surprisingly descent.
