Oh my God, speaking of juxtaposing warm sunrise tones with cold, this:
I was looking at your portfolio thinking about where making your next video could be, and thought of this place. I don't know how you managed the dynamic range in this shot because some of the cliffs that are in the shadows still look natural. I'd think an explainer of how you did that and drone shots swooping down by the water and up the cliffs could be really cool.
Dunno if you know, but I'm the cofounder of SmugMug and launched our YouTube channel to profile photographers we love. In this one we juxtaposed surfers with cold and in filming the drone made all the diff:
Thanks! The power of RAW files - this was from one image. That’s a great idea, one I will definitely consider for a future video. And yes, I’m aware - super stoked to have made this connection with you after being a loyal smugmug user for 6+ years 🙌 I think the SmugMug film series is some of the greatest content out there when it comes to BTS stories of inspirational photographers. Always look forward to their release. And what can I say about Chris B? Absolutely incredible photographer! Have admired his work for a long time.
Amazing. With a Canon? They get a bad rap for dynamic range.
yes - I shoot with all Canon gear!
Nice video, thanks for sharing.
If you don't mind the question - I saw some very smooth pan and tilt in the video, but didn't see you carry around much equipment. Did you return with slider or a drone later, or how did you manage those sequences?
Ok, that’s freaking awesome!
We all appreciate you taking the risk! 😊
hey I’m so sorry for the delay - the pan and tilt was all done handheld with a canon power shot g7x Mark II - it has some impressive IS abilities for a little point and shoot 😊🙌📷
I just bought a Sony RX100 VII and I’m astonished at how good it is. Beautiful 4K video, great image stabilization, a pretty damned sharp 24-200 lens... It does some things well my expensive Nikon D850 doesn’t.
