I saw the offbeat latest film from director Jim Jarmusch, THE DEAD DON'T DIE, in the theater this past weekend. The cast is amazing - you can't beat "The greatest Zombie Cast Ever Disassembled!"
Bill Murray! Tilda Swinton! RZA! Adam Driver! Even Selena Gomez makes an appearance.
What I liked about the film: there were several sub-plots going simultaneously, and depending on the chemistry of the talent involved, you found yourself laughing or pondering what was said. Which is pretty Jim Jarmusch-y (you can see a scene from his 2002 film, COFFEE & CIGARETTES, below). It wasn't a super-gruesome zombie film, with just a few scenes of zombie attacks. There was some subtle social commentary (as zombie films are wont to do) as well as absurd comedy moments.
What I didn't like about the film: not all of the sub-plots were as strong, and sometimes it felt a bit confusing.
That being said, if you love indie film, Jim Jarmusch, and zombies, you should check out this movie! And the theme song has been stuck in my head for the past few days.
Now it'll be stuck in yours.
