China is launching an unmanned mission to the moon on Tuesday, seeking to be the first mission to bring lunar rocks back to earth in 40+ years. The mission is called Chang’e-5, part of a series of missions by the China National Space Administration to the moon. “Chang’e” refers to the legend of the moon goddess Chang’e flying to the moon. So, that’s where the name of the missions comes from. Should be interesting to see how this and subsequent Chang’e missions do.
