Joe and Josh said the design philosophy is to celebrate the core components, not hide them with covers. That’s my taste in motorcycle design too.
The motor case is polished aluminum and liquid cooled. The black anodized fins you see are part of the enormous battery and provide air cooling.
Vilen, at 5’7”, fit perfectly and so did I at 6’4”. No problems reaching controls or feeling cramped.
It’s just…so weird to to have no clutch handle or gearshift. It’s gonna take a few rides to lose a lifetime of muscle memory. I test rode a Zero last week and quickly discovered I won’t miss shifting like I do with cars.
I’ll tell you what’s sad: sitting on a parked bike that can do 0-60 in 3 seconds and 60-80 in 1.8. Damn. The Oakland hills are so near and yet…
