    • This is a one in a million shot. I've got more eagle photographs than just about anyone, but this direct, eye-level, tight headshot, straight on, is particularly illusive. This is the best one I've ever got that didn't require an extreme crop. As it was I cropped about 20% of the image but there's more than enough to print big and I am super happy to have finally got this one. I guess luck is a factor when you photograph objects and in environments where you have no control :) NOTE: I was very close and the depth-of-field (even at f/6.3 was pretty skinny - remember that as subject to camera distance decreases - so does DOF.) Bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), photographed in Kachemak Bay- Cook Inlet - Kenai Peninsula, Alaska.

      Olympus OMD EM1 MK II - Olympus 300 f/4 Pro Lens - ISO 800 - 1/1000th second, f/6.3, on a monopod. Post-Processing in Skylum Software Luminar 2018...
