    • HBO’s new series, Barry, starring Bill Hader, is a dark comedy about a hitman who decides to take up acting. It premiered last weekend and I really enjoyed the first episode!

I’ve always liked Bill Hader on SNL but never realized how good of an actor he is. His character is somewhat serious and reflective (so far) which adds a refreshing tension, given Hader’s past gravitation toward more exuberant characters.

The first episode seemed to balance the funny and the sincere quite well and I’m excited to see where they take the show.

Has anyone else seen it? Thoughts?

(Humble request: add a spoiler disclaimer at the beginning of your post if you’re going to talk about episode details!)

    • Barry is a seriously good TV show. Excellent back comedy. Bill Hader is a talented guy. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quality program to watch.

    • ps If you like black comedies, you might want to check out Killing Eve, on BBC America. Sandra Oh is a nerd who gets into spying. Excellent writing and cast. Very funny and surprisingly dark, too.

    • I'm all caught up on Barry and my word, this show keeps getting better and better. I don't know how it gets both blacker and comedyer (new word) but it is. Acting classes are a major part of the story line and at one point I was asking myself if Bill Hader, whom I love, is a good actor. Then I watched episode 6 and I kicked myself for asking the question. He inhabits the role. What a good show this is.
