I watched several hours of CNBC live this afternoon, and this evening, and was struck by the capitol police officers great attempts to use minimal force, against the "protestors", unsuccessfully. I wondered why more forceful efforts weren't attempted - riot shields, tasers, pepper gas, etc.
There were some reports that the capitol police officers were targeted with tear gas or pepper spray or some chemical agents, which contributed to their difficulties.
I never did hear who shot the woman who died of gun shot wounds - whether those were from the police guards or from someone in the crowds.
Apparently the FBI did find two pipe bombs loaded with nails that were left in the congressional building by one of the rioters. No other mention was made of firearms in the crowds, but one has to wonder. Fortunately I saw no evidence that the Capitol building was firebombed, unlike in 1814.
I seriously think the Vice President and the cabinet should discuss the execution of the 4th Article of the 25th Amendment. The President may acting "in an altered state" following his Covid 19 illness, according to a statement made by Speaker Pelosi
And we thought all the excitement of 2020 was behind us, too!
One interesting thought - a great many of the people who broke in to the Congressional building were videoed or photographed while in there. I am pretty certain those photos will be used to track them down for prosecution, which the rioters may not find so humorous.
