    • So these guys are in public operation now, delivering groceries in Phoenix and Chicago from Kroger stores with no driver on board.

It seems so smart to start this way. They're low speed on residential roads only and carrying groceries instead of people. A remote pilot can monitor and take over in case of something unexpected. This seems like it's 100x simpler to solve and a good way to get the public comfortable with autonomous vehicles. Here's what they look like in operation:

Would you use one if it were in your area? Would you be afraid or object to them?

    • very interesting... I'm having a hard time imagining them on the road with crazy drivers (and yes, I did watch the video). It will be interesting to see if they succeed!

    • I just stumbled across this video from 2012 by Google to promote their work on self-driving cars. It looked fairly far along way back then.

    • This is happening close to where I work in Arizona so I am going to make it a point to cruise the area to witness this. I agree, this seems like a great transition to a driverless future. I think people will be amazed at how much of this we will start to see within the next 1 to 2 years.
