October 2018 is when I joined Cake. I have an almost encyclopedic memory of every conversation that’s been published since then, as well as a lot of the conversations published before I joined. I like nothing better than to click on a topic attached to a conversation and discover an interesting conversation from “the archives.”
After reading through thousands of conversations on Cake, I’ve noticed a few things about conversations that consistently do well (High success rate), conversations that sometimes do well and sometimes die with a whimper (Medium success), and conversations that on a good day seem to have a 1 in 5 chance of meaningful engagement (Low success rate).
These are general observations, and there always exceptions to the rule; however, if you’ve never created a conversation on Cake before, consider these as useful guidelines.
You should know that on most social media platforms, only about one percent of active users react, respond to, or create content. If you’re content to remain in content consumption mode, no worries. But if you’re looking to become more engaged as a content creator, I think you will find this guide helpful.
