Just a little update on the second impeachment of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump. The Senate voted 56-44 that the trial is constitutional, thus paving the way for House Democrats to start putting forth their formal arguments on Wednesday (later today).
Any thoughts on how this will end? I think we'll see more Republican senators vote to convict than last time, but I'm still not sure we'll get enough for a conviction. Thoughts?
I don't expect Trump to be convicted. The point of going through this is to establish the precedent that it is constitutional and expose exactly what Trump did as well as his enablers.
I think yesterday's proceedings accomplished exactly that.

Although I expected this result I am very disappointed.
The bulk of the Republican senators have no guts. And I'm appalled that McConnell seems to be saying that he didn't vote to convict because T is no longer in office - but it's McConnell who essentially set it up so the House managers couldn't deliver the impeachment papers to the senate before the inauguration because the senate was in recess. Hmm...
