    • We have a new Batman, ladies and gentleman. Needless to say, this announcement was met with a lot of scepticism, even from me. I'm not that familiar with his movies, so I have no idea how good (or bad) Robert Pattinson will be as both Bruce Wayne and as Batman. Apparently, some people think he's a good fit based on his previous performances (not in Twilight).

Ben Affleck to me was a great Batman, he had the physique for the character but was let down by poor writing and poor management by the studio. Christian Bale had an amazing story, one of the best superhero trilogies to date, but he wasn't as big or as physically demanding as Batman is usually portrayed. How will Robert Pattinson fair? With a scheduled release date of June 2021, we won't need to wait long as the first trailers should drop sometime next year.

What do you think about the latest casting for the Caped Crusader?

    • I actually have a LOT of faith in the director of The Batman. He did the Planet of the Apes trilogy, which was masterful filmmaking. While I wouldn't consider myself a huge Robert Pattinson fan (hate Twilight), he had an amazing turn in Good Times, showing acting chops I didn't know he had. I'm of the 'Wait and See' camp on this one. Could be amazing. And if they use any number of Batman's many myriad villains, they could be sitting on a great story. I believe I'd read somewhere that they were originally planning on this being more of a mystery, bringing Batman back to being the detective he sometimes is known for. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

    • I didn’t know Pattinson had done all those interesting independent films after Twilight (barf). I just bought one to watch on the plane tonight.

This is pretty interesting speculation of what we might see:

I saw this too. I'd enjoy that. There still needs to be the quintessential action scenes where Batman takes out a room full of thugs who are pissing their pants in fear, but a stronger focus on detective work would be welcomed.

    • I also had heard of a rumor that the story would be of him being locked up in a prison filled with his greatest enemies and having to quell a riot, which would also make for an entertaining film! Or was that Green Arrow? It all blends together. I was never the strongest fan of DC comics...
