Among the scandals of pay-to-play college admissions, it's nice to see one based on hard work and talent. Although, winning the parental lottery was a huge factor.
Allie is the wonderful young woman pictured next to our dog, below. Her parents Albertin and Erin Montoya are soccer coaches, former pro players, they LOVE soccer and light up our neighborhood with their passion of it. Allie gets to learn from two of the best coaches in the U.S. every day, in her front yard.
Sometimes while out walking doggie (pictured below) we'd pass their house and Allie would be running around her yard juggling her soccer ball without it touching the ground, bouncing off feet, knees, chest, head...
I took this photo of Allie a few years ago, never dreaming that Stanford would start recruiting her as a freshman high school player. It's a verbal agreement that can't be formalized until she's a senior, but if she keeps her grades up and playing at a high level, she's in. In return, she committed to them.
I'm still in a bit of shock that this starts for some freshmen.
