    • My son Vaughn just just finished A Brave New World for his English class so I decided to re-read it since I own it. I am only in the forward and remember how prescient this book was. "Only a large scale popular movement toward decentralization and self help can arrest the present tendency toward statism. At present there is no sign that such a movement will take place". A forward written by Aldous Huxley in 1946 that sill holds true unfortunately.

    • What about the yellow vests protests.. it's not that protests don't exist. They're just useless in a society ran as a for profit only, business.

    • In turn what happens when a society is ran in the name of the welfare of the people only? I think it is less about money and more about control which is dangerous on both sides of the political spectrum when it is for the people rather than from the people.

    • In turn what happens when a society is ran in the name of the welfare of the people only?

Politics has always been a circus only the most naive trust it was meant to ever play fair. The true question is why do masses continue to enjoy being herded, and what the alternatives are.

    • That is a hell of a question. Is it primal urges baked into our DNA? It certainly is at the center of it all. Technology has only seemed to amplify it to date.

    • If I may suggest, let him check out a very similar novel written earlier, called We by Evgeny Zamyatin. It was a notable precursor and, arguably, an inspiration for both Huxley and Orwell.
